Alex comes from a background in the non-profit sector, primarily focused on supporting youth and families. Her work has included mental health and substance use support, family support, community youth services, education, and most recently, youth transitioning from government care. She has worked in many areas of BC, such as Squamish, Lilloet, Mt. Currie, many parts of Vancouver and the North Shore. Alex is committed to work that involves uplifting and empowering marginalized communities, particularly Indigenous and BIPOC children, youth and families. She is personally and professionally dedicated to exploring and understanding her role as a white settler working on stolen unceded land, and the importance of weaving this learning into her work. Alex lives on the North Shore and is grateful for the many trails and outdoor spaces to explore. Most weekends she can be found trail running or hiking, cheering on her kids at a soccer game or spending time with friends.
